Situated in the picturesque village of Wheldrake and just six miles from the city of York, Somerset Nursing Home dates back to the 1820s. The building’s ‘old world’ charm is very apparent. As with all Roche homes, there is a very homely atmosphere. Residents can enjoy such benefits as an Aromatherapy Room and scented garden.

Somerset

Irene

The first thing I liked about Somerset was its tranquil location and the fact I don’t feel I have lost any of my independence.

The home itself is very nice and spacious; there are a number of lounges I can choose to sit in. At lunchtime I enjoy sitting in the light and airy conservatory. In the summer I prefer to sit outside in the courtyard and have a chat with my friends.

When my family comes to visit there are plenty of places they take me to. Sometimes we visit York or Mc Arthur Glenn Retail Park as both are easily reached by car.

The care here is also first rate and to be honest now I have so many people looking after my wellbeing I feel part of an extended family.
