After Mum was diagnosed with an Alzheimer illness, 5 years ago, I supported and cared for her so she could live in her own home for as long as possible. Over the last few months her health began to deteriorate and I found it increasingly difficult to give her the professional care she needed and deserved.

When I first visited Ashlands I was bowled over by the friendliness of the staff. The atmosphere of the home was right, staff were cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. I knew this was the Home that would give my mum the care and cherishing that she needed.

Mum has lived at Ashlands for months now and I was not wrong. Mum finds it difficult to tell the staff what she wants, so I was involved in her care right from the start; staff spent time finding out about her life history and who she is, they took time to get to know her. We furnished her room with familiar objects and photos to aid her memory and staff have found ways of communicating with her. Staff are always cheerful and mum looks well. Not only do staff treat her with respect and diginity but they dedicate their time to treating her as an individual.

Ashlands is regulated and inspected by CSCI to provide Nursing Care for older people with Mental Health Disorders. In addition we provide the following services:
