We have a lovely home in Drax, at the heart of the local community and our residents are truly the heart of our home.  We have accommodation for up to 29 residents and offer nursing and residential care (both long and short term), day care, palliative care and have a separate Dementia Unit for those requiring more specialist care.

Myself and the team are fully committed to providing person-centered care in a “home from home” environment. We put the service users at the heart of everything we do so they are cared for and supported in a comfortable atmosphere where they can feel secure and contented while at the same time being supported to lead as full a life as possible.

All the staff here are well trained, and focus on being caring and helpful with a relaxed attentive approach that can only be found in a small home.

The meals at Mansion House are freshly prepared onsite daily and a choice of nutritious and delicious meals are offered.    In fact residents and staff recently produced their very own recipe book containing details of their favourite meals & puddings from years gone by.

The Activities program at Mansion House is busy and varied.  Individuals are encouraged to join as many or as little as they wish and there is something to suit all tastes and abilities.  As well as regular entertainers, summer coast-trips and coffee mornings residents can enjoy daily activities including flower arranging, creating scrap books, reminiscence, knitting and arts & crafts.  A Nintendo Wii is also available for those who wish to play and there is a resident Piano for the more musical residents.

Our specialist unit caring for people with dementia has 14 beds and has been decorated in bright colours to help with spatial awareness.  Each of the doors are painted with an individually chosen colour and have been made to look like a ‘front door’ with a plaque and are decorated with pictures relevant to the individual.   What makes our dementia unit unique is that residents have direct access to a secure large garden area and even the greenhouse is accessible by wheelchair, giving our residents the freedom to fully enjoy their home.
